Payments received by the town from the state under the provisions of the Streets and Highways Code, and in particular all moneys so received by the town from the state for the acquisition of real property or interest therein for, or the construction, maintenance or improvement of streets or highways, other than street highways, shall be deposited and paid into the special gas tax street improvement fund.
